Egyptian Orthopedic Association
The association was established in 1948, headed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Kamel Hussein, as a division of the Egyptian Medical Association, based in Dar Al-Hekma. It was announced in the English and American Orthopedic Journal, and its founding members are university doctors, the armed forces, the Ministry of Health, the Red Crescent Society, and bone tuberculosis clinics.
In a subsequent stage, a Board of Directors was formed, headed by the founding members in succession
The association was registered with the Ministry of Social Affairs under No. 2805 on October 26, 1980, so that it has some financial and administrative independence, as well as its headquarters and its bylaws.
The Board of Directors is now formed by free election from the General Assembly, with renewal according to the law.
The number of members of the association has increased from dozens at its inception to thousands now
Association objectives
A cultural and scientific association that brings together orthopedic surgeons in the Republic. It works to improve the scientific level and cultural exchange with similar associations, train young doctors in the art of orthopedic surgery and to treat diseases and injuries, and publish the Egyptian Journal of Orthopedic Surgery.
The association’s activity also includes the general specialization of orthopedic surgery, injuries, and fractures, in addition to the subspecialties of spinal surgery – the knee – the hand – the pelvis – bone tumors – pediatric orthopedic surgery – microscopic surgeries – endoscopy related to the joints and bones and what is related to them – every new subspecialty related to the locomotor system.
Creating specialized groups in the specializations mentioned in Clause 2.
Establishing a scientific library for the association’s recorded scientific videos.
Conducting local and international seminars, conferences, training courses, and any other activity that would improve orthopedic surgery in general and microsurgery in particular.
